Cursor on November 5, 2026 introduced Build Live Apps, a cloud-agent workflow that turns a described internal tool into a hosted web app with a shareable link. The changelog says agents have made writing code cheaper, but most apps never leave localhost; the new path is meant to close that gap for people across an organization. Cursor frames the release as letting anyone in an org build useful tools for work and share them with teammates after updating the editor.

A user starts a cloud agent and says they want to build an app. Cursor says it scaffolds the web app, spins up a Postgres database when needed, configures authentication behind Cursor SSO, and provisions hosting. If the app must reach systems such as a data warehouse, Cursor asks for the required secrets. When publishing, the user picks a unique domain and receives a live URL.

Cursor reports that teams in sales, operations, legal, finance and engineering are already using the flow for internal ops tools, customer demos, onboarding experiences, live sales dashboards and engineering service portals. Apps can be deployed from new or existing repositories on Cursor Origin and GitHub, with GitLab support described as coming soon.

Before anything goes live, Cursor runs deterministic and agentic security checks for issues such as secrets written into app files or exposed credentials. Failed checks block publish until the agent fixes them and the user explicitly republishes. Team admins can see every app and secret, add review rules, approve blocked publishes and unpublish any app.

Sharing is gated by Cursor sign-in for people, groups or the whole team. Individual plans can also share apps publicly. Cursor says the capability is available on all paid plans with cloud agents enabled, and its docs add that local agents are not supported for this path. Claims about security checks and hosting isolation are Cursor's.

Independent product writeups on the same day treated the release as a shift from coding assistance to shipping hosted apps. For coding-agent desks, the news is less a model launch than a deployment surface: describe the tool, get a URL, keep admin controls on secrets and publish. That packaging sits next to Cursor Origin and GitHub deployment paths already used by cloud agents, so Live Apps reads as an extension of the same agent runtime rather than a separate product island.
